Capability matrix
Six disciplines, one table
| Discipline | Cadence | Deliverable | Fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Positioning framework | 4–6 weeks | Position paper + proof map | Category entry or repositioning |
| Brand narrative | 3–5 weeks | Story arc + chapter outline | Founder voice still forming |
| Message hierarchy | 2–4 weeks | Tiered messages by channel | Many teams publishing at once |
| Brand voice & nomenclature | 3–4 weeks | Voice guide + naming rules | Product lines multiplying |
| Editorial content programme | Quarterly | Calendar + brief templates | Owned content investment |
| Brand system documentation | 4–8 weeks | Master brand-system document | Handover to in-house or partners |
Positioning framework
We begin where most companies already have material: the website, the investor letter, the slide that won the last pitch. We mark where claims contradict, where adjectives pile up without proof, and where the category you think you occupy differs from the category your language suggests. The output is a position paper short enough to memorise and detailed enough to defend: who you serve, what you refuse to do, why someone should believe you, and how that belief shows up in a sentence rather than a slogan.
Brand narrative
Narrative is not a tagline stretched to paragraph length. We build a story arc with chapters your teams can navigate: origin, tension, resolution, and the recurring proof that makes the story feel earned rather than invented. Founders often arrive with a personal story that has never been translated for employees or partners; we write the bridge version — still honest, but usable in a careers page, a partner deck, and a keynote without rewriting from scratch each time.
Message hierarchy
A hierarchy separates what belongs on the annual report from what belongs on a product detail page from what belongs on a recruitment post. We assign tiers, write exemplar sentences for each, and show how they nest without repeating. The exercise sounds administrative; it is the difference between a company that sounds coherent in a crisis and one that improvises a new promise every week.
Brand voice and nomenclature
Voice rules fail when they read like poetry critiques. Ours read like instructions: sentence length bands, words to avoid, how to address the reader, how product names capitalise, what to call features versus benefits. Nomenclature extends that discipline to naming — prefixes, suffixes, how generations increment, how regional variants differ without forking the brand.
Editorial content programme
An editorial programme is a calendar with intent. We map themes to quarters, assign formats, and write brief templates that specify audience, argument, proof, and call to action before a writer opens a blank document. The programme respects your team's capacity — we would rather publish less with clarity than fill months with placeholders.
Brand system documentation
The brand system document is where positioning, narrative, hierarchy, voice, and nomenclature converge in one binder your design partner can implement. We include message tiers, visual language notes at the level of direction rather than specification, and worked examples from your actual materials — not lorem ipsum stand-ins.
